Blue Ribbon Panel

Do you think that Phil Gramm will be on John McCain's blue ribbon panel on the economy? I bet he is dying to tell us that the bail outs of the last couple days are psychosomatic. Thanks to Phil Gramm, we have fallen victim to the 21st century Ponzi scheme that involves Collateralized Debt Obligation "Securities" and the insurance policies written against the Securities. We now get to pay and someone else got very wealthy while helping to weaken our current system. Johnny Mac now wants to regulate Wall Street and Banking. This regulation will come after the blue ribbon commission tells us what went wrong.

We know what went wrong and it would be a travesty if we compounded this by actually allowing the blue ribbon commission to come into being.

Johnny Mac isn't getting the message

Wow!

McCain was on MSNBC's "Morning Joe" this morning and he insisted his fundamentals comment was taken out of context and that his "Kindergarten Sex Ed" spot was factually correct. This despite the fact that Rove was pointing out the veracity gap on Sunday on Fox News Network. I am sure that the Rove comments were made due to testing, so Johnny Mac is probably now ignoring the augerers. Perhaps it is because he is using Rove underlings who are not as skilled as Rove in reading societal currents.

Rove calls McCain a liar?

I have been doing a lot of hand holding of late. I have been trying to cheer up supporters of the Obama campaign and point out that bounces are normal and soon NRA Barbie would loose her shine and what goes up!

I have been expressing to people my belief that the masses would grow weary of the McCain campaign falsehoods. Tonight I heard pot Karl Rove describe the pigmentation of kettle McCain. Rove said the McCain campaign had gone "one step too far" and "attributing to Obama things that are, you know, beyond the '100 percent truth' test". This is odd behavior from Mr. Keep Telling The Lie and It Becomes Truth. I believe that he is seeing something in the internal numbers that is suggesting trouble on the way for the McCain and company. This happening on a day when the masses are hearing about Chapter 11 for Lehman, 500 point plunge for the DOW, and a Palin aide tells the world the Troopergate invesigation was instigated by the Obama campaign and she was not going to cooperate.

All this suggests to me that the hand holding is over because we are going to see the internals showing up in the polling that we see.

I can't wait for next Wednesday.

Real Fight

This was to have been posted on 9/10/2008 but...

I see that many people are not taking the McCain bump very well, but there is no need for panic. Currently the McCain campaign is fueled by lies, bigotry, and curiosity about NRA Barbie. I wish that I had come up with the appellation NRA Barbie, but I will make use of it regularly.

Between now and election day, tell a couple of you neighbors the truth.

Point out the lies in the McCain/Palin fallacy based pitch.

Cease and Desist

Back in 1977 I was a disc jockey at WYDD in Pittsburgh. I got to meet a particular musician/activist at the Leona Theater in Homestead. This guy, John Hall, is currently a Congressman from New York and he had a couple of hits in 1975 and 1976 with his band Orleans.
I got to watch him perform a snippet of Dance With Me with Stephen Colbert on the Colbert Report in the run up to the 2006 elections. I was more that a little impressed with their duet.

I also got to see pair do The Star Spangled Banner on the day after the 2006 election.

John Hall was a founding member of Musicians United for Safe Energy (M. U. S. E.) the group that did the No Nukes concerts. Imagine his surprise when he learned that George Bush had made the song Still The One the theme for the Bush-Cheney 2004 campaign.

John J. Hall had to involve attorneys and needed to serve a cease and desist order to the Bushies.

Intellectual property means nothing to these folks.

Guess what Congressman John Hall had to do recently. Yeah he needed to get the McCain campaign to cease and desist from using the Still The One in June.

In February John Cougar Mellencamp asked the McCain campaign to stop using his music.

It would seem that Jackson Browne, also from M. U. S. E, Heart, and Van Halen are also concerned about the McCain campaign using their material.

I'll bet Charlie Daniels will let McCain use Uneasy Rider

I'm just a man of African descent trying to get by in the Bush Administration

A few years ago, I worked as a sales guy for CompUSA. The host of one of the local right wing talk shows came in to the store and was unable to get his questions answered. Coincidentally, another customer who knew that I had been a radio program director, was somewhat knowledgeable, and was a liberal thought it would be amusing to steer the voice of reason (this is what he calls himself) in my direction.

I answered all of the voice of reason's questions, much to his amazement.

"Wow, you know a lot about this stuff."
"Yeah, I guess", I modestly replied.
"But you're black" came out of his mouth next.

A little more recently I visited the legislative office of Representative "Dutch" Ruppersburger. I was there for a MoveOn action. There were about twenty people in the office to make our feelings known about the next phases in the Iraq War. My brother and I were the only two non-melanin challenged people in the room. My brother and I both took time to prepare our statements and we both gave copies of our statements to the legislative aid that was present and when we were called upon to give our statements we each read what we had written. The others stumbled and mumbled through the presentations that they winged. Remember, this is a group that gathered under the auspices of MoveOn. Once the meeting was over, my brother and I were told how articulate we were, but it was the familiar sense of amazement that caused the moment to stay with me.

Which brings us to present day...

I am about to play William Russell, the Adlai Stevenson character in Gore Vidal's The Best Man.
The director told me that he wanted to eliminate mentions of civil rights in the play. I asked why and he said that it is "different" now. I explained that I have been stopped for Driving While Black and Walking While Black. I explained that Barak Obama's pigmentation is not really the huge advatage Geraldine Ferraro makes it out to be.

The media still paints people of African descent as animalistic thugs. Not long ago Bill Bennett suggested that the way to lower the crime rate was to abort black babies. Yep the right to lifers floated that eugenics balloon to see if they could get away with it.

They want this to be a culture war, but guess what...you are more like me than you are like them.

I refuse to let someone's preconceived notions keep me down so don't think that I am whining about my plight. I also refuse to let low information voters drag this country down. If you know someone that needs to have their eyes opened please make them aware of as much truth as they can handle, rinse and repeat.

Nagging Question

I have been puzzled by a statement made last week when some one was singing the praises of Sarah Palin.

"She supports aerial hunting."

Despite the fact that I know that Sarah Palin is the pin-up gal for the NRA, I just knew that aerial hunting must be something that is done with a telescope or binoculars. I made use of a popular search engine and learned about the barbaric practice of using slow planes and helicopters to chase and slaughter bear and wolves.

I guess the fact that Alaskan people have voiced their disapproval at the polls repeatedly means nothing to Governor Palin. That makes her the perfect choice for a party the cares nothing about the will of the American people. Yes, she seems to be Dick Cheney with a uterus.
